Underneath My Anger

What we see when we look at an iceberg, How big is an iceberg? It may seem relatively small from above sea level, however, this does not reflect the reality of how big it really is below the surface. If we were to look below the surface of our anger to explore what's really going on, what would we see? The 'Underneath My Anger' resource provides an interactive way for people to explore hidden emotions, and better understand why we are feeling this way.

What are the benefits of using this resource?

In our lives, what we see on the outside isn't always a clear picture of what is going on. This can be the same for our emotions and behaviours. When we feel angry, other people may see only this anger and the way we react to it, but in reality, what's really going on could be many other different feelings, thoughts, emotions, and experiences that have led us to feel this way, and anger has become our way of expressing this.

We may hide our emotions and the reasons why we are feeling this way consciously (purposely) due to feeling of shame, anxiety, or for fear of consequences, however, we may also hide this sub-consciously (without our knowledge) when are feelings and emotions are confusing or we don't realise or understand the root cause of our difficult emotions. Exploring our hidden emotions can help us to gain better understanding of how and why we are feeling this way and open up opportunites to talk to others and get the help and support we need.

Its Good To Talk!!!

If you are struggling with your thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and/or difficult experiences, we recommend that you talk to one of the trusted people in your life, and seek professional help and support. Sharing our experiences can be empowering, as it can help us to take back control of our lives by allowing us to identify and manage our difficulties, and take positive and proactive steps to overcome these. However, we can sometimes find it hard to talk about our difficulties and how we feel; in such cases, writing these down can feel easier and less painful and can serve as a great method of communicating when words are too difficult to speak. If you are struggling to talk, we encourage you to use written word or this resource to share what has happened to you and how you are feeling.
